Rabat – The United States, through Secretary of State Antony Blinken, lauded King Mohammed VI’s commitment to peace and security in the Middle East on Thursday.
During a telephone conversation with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, the chief American diplomat also emphasized the “close” ongoing cooperation between Morocco and the United States.
Also mentioned in the pair’s discussions were efforts to prevent an escalation in the Middle East region, the US Department of State said in a statement.

During an extraordinary session of the League of Arab States Council of Foreign Ministers regarding the situation in Palestine, held in Cairo on Wednesday, Bourita emphasized that King Mohammed VI has consistently advocated for leaving behind the logic of conflict and violence in favor of peace, cooperation, and the construction of a prosperous space for all the people of the region.
He also expressed Morocco’s readiness to join any Arab and international efforts aimed at fulfilling the Palestinian people’s aspirations for an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of June 4, 1967 and in accordance with the internationally agreed-upon two-state solution.
