Rabat – The Council of the Casablanca-Settat Region convened on Monday, October 2, 2023, to mark a significant milestone as they approved the region’s budget for the year 2024, totaling $135.7 million. This substantial financial allocation signals a commitment to reduce spatial disparities, enhance basic services, and boost economic growth in the region.
The council’s ordinary session saw the unanimous approval of all 55 points on its agenda, a testament to the collective effort to boost socio-economic development, environmental preservation, tourism promotion, and cultural enrichment.
Chaired by Abdellatif Maazouz, president of the Council of the Casablanca-Settat Region, the session emphasized the importance of projects and programs to bridge regional gaps and deliver essential services to the population. The $135.7 million budget allocated for 2024 is expected to be a catalyst for these initiatives, with a substantial portion earmarked for investments.
Maazouz outlined that these investments will encompass a wide array of projects and programs across various sectors, spanning the region’s prefectures and municipalities. These endeavors fall under the umbrella of the regional development program for the years 2022-2027, aimed at driving sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for the region’s residents.

Providing further context, Maazouz highlighted that over 200 agreements have already been inked as part of the regional development program’s implementation since its ratification in October 2022. This reflects the commitment of the Casablanca-Settat Region to meet its developmental goals and uplift its communities.
Beyond the budget approval, the session showcased the comprehensive efforts of the council. The council presented a detailed report on the presidency’s activities during the preceding intersessional period, providing insights into their strategic initiatives and accomplishments. Additionally, various directorates within the council and its affiliated bodies shared their achievements from the past two years, further emphasizing their dedication to the region’s progress.
