Rabat – Morocco’s Atlas Lions are facing off Cote d’Ivoire shortly in a friendly game that is part of the preparatory campaign ahead of the much-anticipated Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (AFCON).
Head coach Walid Regragui’s 11-men lineup features the usual stars of the national football team, and the coach is counting on them to perform as well as at the 2022 World Cup.
The lineup includes Yassine Bounou, Yahia Attiyat Allah, and Achraf Hakimi.

The Atlas Lions’ game comes just a few days following the Confederation of Africa Cup of Nations’ final draw for AFCON 2023, which put Morocco in Group F alongside Tanzania, the Democratic of Congo, and Zambia.
Several public figures, including former football players like Mustapha El Haddaoui, commented on the draw and stressed that the Atlas Lions’ group is “ relatively manageable.”
However, El Haddaoui emphasized the need for vigilance, cautioning that other teams will prepare well to face the Atlas Lions.
Former Atlas Lions player Noureddine Bouyahyaoui echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for caution to avoid upsets and ensure easy qualification for the next round.
