Rabat – Israel has issued travel warnings against visiting Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco in response to growing concerns that Israeli travelers may be targeted by individuals angered by Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza.
The warning was jointly announced by the Israeli National Security Council in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Foreign Ministry on Friday, according to Israeli media.
The alert level for Egypt and Jordan has been raised to level 4. Israel advised its citizens currently in these countries to leave as soon as possible.
For Morocco, the threat level has been elevated to 3, with Israeli citizens urged to avoid non-essential travel to the country.
The travel warning comes amid a surge in pro-Palestine protests worldwide, especially in the Arab world and Muslim-majority countries.
“Given the ongoing war, we are witnessing a significant increase in anti-Israel protests in the past few days in countries around the world, and in particular, Arab countries in the Middle East,” the announcement said.
The statement also advised Israelis to avoid visiting other countries, including Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
Morocco has seen several mass demonstrations over the past week, with tens of thousands of pro-Palestine protesters taking to the streets in major Moroccan cities to express their solidarity with the Palestinians and condemn the Israeli occupation.
The mass demonstrations soared in Casablanca, Rabat, and other cities across Morocco after Israel bombed a hospital in Gaza, claiming the lives of at least 500 Palestinians. The victims included patients and displaced individuals seeking shelter.
Two days later, an Israeli airstrike hit a Greek Orthodox church in Gaza where dozens of displaced individuals hadt aken shelter.
