Rabat – Director General of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi held a working meeting with Belgian high-level officials on Wednesday in Rabat.
The Belgian delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Paul Van Tigchelt, as well as the acting Director General of Security Francisca Bostyn.
A statement released today by DGSN said that the discussions focused on assessing bilateral cooperation between the two countries at different levels, including security.
“They also discussed ways to enhance this cooperation, expand its forms and levels, to ensure the effective response to the increasing challenges and threats related to the terrorist danger and transnational organized crime that crosses national borders,” the statement added.
The meeting is part of the DGSN-DGST’s commitment to continue to strengthen international security cooperation, covering exchange of information and expertise to counter terrorist threats and dismantle transnational organized crime networks.
The meeting also reflects Morocco’s commitment to continue boosting cooperation with international partners.
The strength of the country’s international cooperation has been reflected in its contribution to tackling security threats regionally and internationally.
Morocco recently assisted German police to prevent a potential terrorist plot in Germany, as the DGST shared crucial intelligence allowing law enforcement in the European country to locate and arrest a German-Egyptian national suspected of plotting terrorist attacks.
