Rabat – In a commendable display of international cooperation, the Spanish National Police and Moroccan intelligence services joined forces to apprehend an alleged terrorist on Spanish soil, underscoring their enduring commitment to safeguarding Europe from the menace of extremism.

The operation, carried out on November 1, in the province of Barcelona, resulted in the arrest of a suspected terrorist whose ominous online presence had raised alarms.

The collaborative effort was orchestrated by the Spanish police, with invaluable support from the adept General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) of Morocco, showcasing a well-oiled machinery of counterterrorism that spans national boundaries.

As per the announcement made by the Spanish Ministry of Interior, the arrested individual had amassed a substantial following of nearly 400,000 loyal followers and garnered almost 4 million “likes” on various social media platforms.

According to the same press release, the content of these profiles was rife with incitement to hatred, violence and the execution of terrorist acts on European territory.

This joint operation, a testament to the robust collaboration between Moroccan intelligence services and their Spanish counterparts, is not an isolated case. It vividly portrays a recurrent theme of intelligence sharing, illustrating the depth of trust and camaraderie existing between the two nations in their fight against terrorism.

The detainee, whose identity has not been revealed, is said by the ministry to have pledged allegiance to various terrorist organizations. His digital fingerprint played a key role in his identification and capture.

This strategic victory in the ongoing battle against terror is a testament to the unwavering dedication of both Spanish and Moroccan authorities.

The successful operation not only underscores the exceptional competence of Moroccan intelligence but also the efficacy of cross-border collaboration in addressing the ever-present threat of terrorism.

For both Madrid and Rabat, this successful joint operation is a stark reminder that in this era of global interconnectivity, the pursuit of security often transcends national borders and requires a united front against those who seek to disrupt the peace.
