Rabat – Yemen’s Houthis seized a cargo ship that is partially owned by Israel in the southern Red Sea, Israel says.
Israel blamed the incident on Iran, claiming that the country supported the Houthis in their operation.
Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, the Houthis have been launching long-range missile and drone attacks targeting Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The Houthis announced last week that they will continue to attack Israeli targets, saying their attacks could also include Israeli ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, Reuters reports.

The Houthis are yet to come out with a statement on the incident, but a spokesperson of the group said on Sunday that all ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or carrying the Israeli flag could be targeted.
The news comes as the death toll in Gaza and the occupied West Bank reached more than 12,000.
Approximately 3,750 Palestinians, including at least 1,750 children are missing and may be trapped or dead under the rubble.
The Gaza Strip continues to suffer under Israel’s relentless air strikes, with the occupation force saying it has struck at least 12,000 targets across the Strip from October 7 to November 1. The campaign is the most intense bombing operation in recent history.
The situation has greatly affected hospitals, with 26 out of 35 hospitals in Gaza ceasing operations due to Israel’s airstrikes or due to fuel shortages.
Israel has systematically targeted civilian infrastructure including UNRWA schools and refugee camps, claiming that they harbored Hamas militants.
