Rabat – In the aftermath of the recent assault on Al-Shifa hospital, the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza has also found itself under siege.
The Indonesian Hospital in North Gaza has become the latest victim of Israeli aggression, leaving at least 12 dead, including patients and their companions. The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed its deep concern and condemned the attack, emphasizing the appalling nature of targeting health care facilities.
The assault not only claimed lives, but also left many injured, some of whom are in critical and life-threatening condition.
The Gaza Strip has been under relentless bombardment since October 7, and hospitals have been facing major problems such as power cuts, shortages of water and essential medicines.
The Indonesian Hospital remains under siege, preventing anyone from entering or leaving its premises.
Reports have suggested that attempts to leave have been met with gunfire, raising fears among those trapped inside. Incessant attacks by Israeli forces on Gaza’s health facilities over the past six weeks have forced mass evacuations, resulting in fatalities and casualties.
Since October 7, the WHO has documented 335 attacks on healthcare in Palestinian territories, with 164 in the Gaza Strip and 171 in the West Bank.
The Indonesian Hospital, already damaged by at least five previous attacks, now faces a dire situation, with limited capacity to provide essential services.
Statistics also paint a bleak picture, with hospital bed capacity in Gaza plummeting from 3,500 to 1,400 since October 7. Shortages of fuel, medicines, and safe water have compounded the crisis, leaving critical gaps for patients requiring hospitalization.
