Rabat – Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the United States’ latest use of its veto power in the United Nations Security Council to block the passing of a resolution aimed at mandating Israel to cease its aggression in Gaza Strip.

President Abbas characterized this move as “aggressive and unethical,” emphasizing that it represents a blatant violation of humanitarian values and principles, Palestine’s news agency WAFA reported.

Attributing the bloodshed in Gaza to the US stance, Abbas held Washington accountable for the suffering of innocent Palestinian civilians at the hands of Israeli occupation forces.

He described the veto as a manifestation of the United States’ “shameful policy” in support of Israel and its brutal aggression against the Palestinian people.

Abbas stressed that the US policy makes it complicit in the “genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.”

The US administration’s veto sends a distressing signal to the international community, granting what he referred to as an “additional green light” for the Israeli offensive to persist, Abbas said, warning that Wahsington’s justification of Israeli aggression poses a serious threat to international peace and security, labeling it a danger to the world.

Although he expressed gratitude to UN Security Council member states that supported the draft resolution calling for an end to Israeli aggression, the Palestinian president predicted that the repercussions of this decision would haunt the United States for years to come.

He concluded by urging the international community to seek solutions to halt the genocide against Palestinians, cautioning against the escalation of the crisis into a religious war that could pose a threatto global peace.
