Rabat – The Moroccan government has inked an agreement with French aeronautic parts manufacturer Safran Group to foster and advance the aerospace industrial ecosystem in the country.
The agreement focuses on the development of a high-quality local supply chain by identifying and supporting the production capabilities of Safran’s suppliers and service providers in Morocco, said the company in a press release on Wednesday.
In addition, the agreement aims to strengthen research and technology activities, as well as introduce new engineering services, to enhance the overall value proposition within the aerospace sector.
Another key focus is enhancing local skills and competencies by reinforcing training initiatives and establishing partnerships with engineering schools and universities.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Morocco’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation Abdellatif Miraoui, the Secretary-General at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Taoufiq Moucharraf, and CEO of Safran Olivier Andries.
Miraoui expressed satisfaction at Safran’s commitment to contributing to the development of aerospace-related fields in the country, describing the company as “Morocco’s historic partner” in the sector.

He also commended Safran for establishing joint units in collaboration with Moroccan universities in engineering, research and development (R&D), test benches, and simulation.
Meanwhile, Moucharraf said that “today’s agreement confirms the competitiveness of the Moroccan aerospace ecosystem and underscores the confidence of global leaders like Safran in Morocco.”
He underlined that the partnership will open new avenues for collaboration in advanced technology practices, aiming to expand production activities, introduce new engineering services, and develop Moroccan skills further.
The CEO of Safran emphasized that the agreement with the Moroccan government builds on their successful partnership that focused on developing a robust aerospace industrial ecosystem in Morocco.
He highlighted their joint commitment to talent development, industrial efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
“Sharing a common vision for the future of aerospace, Safran and the Moroccan government are scripting a new chapter in their strategic collaboration,” Andries said.
