Rabat – Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will organize an international debate titled “Human Rights Universality: Realized Effectiveness or an Incomplete Path?” on December 7 and 8 at the National Library in Rabat.
The event, which aims to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, will commence with the reading of King Mohammed VI’s message to the participants.
The forum aims to serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and perspectives, and for participants to show their dedication to a world where individuals enjoy “justice, dignity, and freedom,” said CNDH in a press release.
CNDH President Amina Bouayach explained that discussions will focus on understanding the universality of human rights as a result of people gradually recognizing and embracing their individual and collective rights.
The forum will provide an opportunity to assess humanity’s ability to transcend its boundaries and create common ground that benefits from various perspectives, involving in-depth academic and intellectual discussions.
In addition, it will seek to understand traditional and emerging challenges within a context influenced by the multiple impacts of globalization and local and national cultural expressions.

The debate’s sessions will cover six key themes: “Human Rights Universality in the Ever-Changing Contexts,” “Africa’s Position within the International Human Rights System,” “Morocco’s Engagement in the International Human Rights System,” “Common Challenges in Addressing Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Digital Technology,” “Promoting a Human Rights Culture as a Lever for Enhancing Human Rights Universality,” and finally, “Art and Imagination in the Service of a Universal Human Vision.”
In addition to the debate, CNDH, in collaboration with the Bank of Morocco and La Poste Group, will host an event to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The ceremony will include the presentation of a commemorative coin and postage stamp issued in celebration of the anniversary, in partnership with the United Nations Information Center.
