Rabat – Israeli journalist Ariel Shimon, ousted from “Yedioth Ahronoth” newspaper, has ignited a fierce debate by challenging the government’s silence on the real toll of the Battle of al-Bariyya in Gaza, exposing alarming statistics that defy the narrative put forth by authorities.
Shimon has raised crucial questions about the government’s transparency, shedding light on concealed casualties and equipment losses that defy official reports.
He alleges that the Israeli government has intentionally withheld vital information, including the actual number of casualties and equipment losses since the intense conflict broke out in Gaza.
He contends that the true figures are nearly three times higher than officially acknowledged, unveiling a staggering toll that includes over 250 soldiers and officers left fully blinded and more than 500 vehicles that were completely destroyed.
Shimon, undeterred by the consequences of his expulsion, contends that the devastating reality extends beyond the numbers released to the public. A multitude of vehicles, ranging from tracks to armored vehicles, bulldozers, and Hummers, were partially destroyed, adding another layer to the concealed scale of losses in the conflict.

Perhaps most shocking are Shimon’s claims about the human cost of the Battle of al-Bariyya. He asserts that thousands of soldiers, including 3,700 left permanently disabled, challenge the official narrative.
Furthermore, he alleges that the actual death toll stands at a staggering 3,850 soldiers and officers, contrary to the official Israeli army figure of 418.
“Why doesn’t Netanyahu publicly admit that his goals in the battle have been lost?” questions Shimon, raising a critical point about the government’s reluctance to acknowledge the true outcome of the conflict.
He emphasizes that the dependence on American support saved Israel from weapon exhaustion, and now, with the withdrawal of American assistance, the State of Israel faces a shifting geopolitical landscape.
The journalist’s expulsion underscores the challenges faced by those who dare to question the official narrative of the genocidal campaign underway in Gaza. The debate sparked by Shimon’s claims transcends political affiliations, demanding a deeper examination of the consequences of obscured truths.
