Rabat – Another journalist was killed this week by Israeli occupation forces as Israel’s war on Gaza enters its third month.
The media office of Gaza’s government announced on Wednesday the killing of journalist Abdel Kareem Oudeh by Israeli forces, Al Jazeera reported.
Data from the non-profit Committee to Protect Journalists indicates that as of October, at least 68 journalists had been killed by Israel fire. The majority of journalists killed in Israel’s aggression were in the Gaza Strip.
Since the start of Israel’s war on the Palestinian enclave, over 18,000 Palestinians have been killed while more than 45,000 have been injured.
On Wednesday, the UN Refugee Chief predicted Filippo Grandi said that more civilian deaths and displacement would take place in the Gaza Strip.
The war has so far displaced 85 percent of Gaza’s population.
“The events that have occurred in Israel and Gaza since October 7 are outside the mandate of UNHCR,” Filippo Grandi said at the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva. “Tragically, however, we foresee more civilian deaths and suffering and also further displacement that threatens the region.”

Israel’s order for civilians to move south of the Gaza Strip displaced 70% of Gaza’s population – 1.7 million people -, and put extreme pressure on shelters in southern Gaza.
On Tuesday night, the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in favor of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. 153 countries voted in favor of the resolution while 23 abstained. Meanwhile, only 10 countries — notably the US and Israel — voted against the resolution.
While the resolution is legally non-binding, its symbolically significant call for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” is a chilling reminder that most of the world is opposed to Israel’s reprehensible and increasingly murderous Gaza campaign.
