Rabat – The second edition of the Rabat Networking Days (RND) commenced today with a busy schedule, taking 45 students from Al Akhawayn to a series of professional meetings at various associations and public institutions in the Moroccan capital.

Morocco World News (MWN) in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University (AUI) is organizing the second edition of the Rabat Networking Days, with a significant focus on youth inclusion, and personal development.

The groups were divided into two, with each group visiting associations and public institutions who share their expertise, missions, and a glimpse of the professional job market with AUI students.

The first group visited the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE), meeting with its executives, who shared insights on the institution’s work and goals.

Speaking to MWN, CESE Secretary General Younes Benakki stressed the importance of the Rabat Networking Days, noting that he was delighted to meet students from AUI.

“It was an engaging meeting, during which we delved into CESE’s mission, placing particular emphasis on its profound impacts and recommendations for Morocco’s development across specific dimensions: socio-economic aspects, and the environment,” Benakki said.

CESE’s Secretary General also expressed his admiration for the interactive questions raised by students, stressing the significance of networking and building strong connections with youth.

In addition, Benakki also discussed the importance of interactions in empowering students’ skills and the need for their inclusion to effectively contribute to Morocco’s development.

AUI students also visited the Moroccan Parliament, as well as the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

Chaimae Bourjij, national project coordinator at the German foundation expressed his satisfaction with hosting AUI students.

The project coordinator emphasized the foundation’s commitment to tackling different topics, including promoting democracy, youth empowerment, women empowerment, and advocating on migration and prisoners’ rights, among others.

Speaking of the Rabat National Days, Bourjij stressed that such events are very important for youth.

“It is very important and very interesting that you are doing this very early on, because once you graduate and you are trying to get to know the professional world, you are usually only meeting people that are from finances if you are a graduate of finance, or people from marketing if you are a graduate of marketing, or even engineers if you are a graduate in engineering.. But the problem is that you don’t get to explore the other potential jobs that you might have,” she said.

She described the RND idea as “cool” for students and youth to explore all the potential options they can have.

Deborah Bartlett, Chief Employability Officer at Al Akhawayn University emphasized the importance of RND, describing it as an “extended opportunity for organizations in Rabat to meet young talent in academia in Ifrane.”

“We are excited to do a second edition, because there was such high demand from the first one, both from organizations here in Rabat who want to open their doors and get to know future talent, as well as from students,” Bartlett said.

The inaugural day of the event included several visits to different professional spots, including the European Investment Bank, the Indian Embassy to Morocco, UN Women, as well as the National Agency for the Development of Oasis Zones and the Argan Tree (ANDZOA), and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

The goal of the second edition is to emphasize the importance of encouraging youth to engage in policy-making, as well as develop their networking skills while emphasizing the importance of interaction, youth engagement, and inclusion.

The opening day will end with a networking gala, where students and professionals will meet to discuss their future.
