Rabat – Achraf Hakimi has emerged as the only Moroccan player selected for the Best XI of the third matchday in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023. The PSG right-back’s standout performances showcased not only individual brilliance but also underscored his crucial role in the collective success of the Moroccan national team.
Hakimi delivered an impressive performance in the group stage of the ongoing AFCON, leading to the right-back featuring in the best XI for this first round of the continental tournament.
Securing an impressive rating of 8.2 from Sofascore, the preeminent authority in sports statistics, the PSG player not only stands out as a pivotal player in the AFCON group dream team but also adds another noteworthy achievement to his illustrious career.
The Best XI for Matchday 3 features a dynamic lineup, including two forwards, Ghana’s Jordan Ayew (7.9) and Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue (8.3). In the defensive lineup, Hakimi’s notable presence (8.2) is joined by Cameroon’s Nicolas Nkoulou (7.8), Ivory Coast’s Ibrahim Sangaré (7.8), and Egypt’s Trézéguet (8.3).
Tunisia’s Aïssa Laïdouni (7.8) stands as the sole representative in the midfield, while the formidable offensive line features Logan Costa from Cape Verde (8.1), Tunisia’s Yassine Meriah (7.9), and Senegal’s Abdoulaye Seck (7.9). The goalkeeping accolade goes to Stanley Nwabili (8.2) from Nigeria.
On Wednesday, Morocco’s Atlas Lions clinched a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 by emerging as the leaders of Group F following their dominant performance against Zambia’s Chipolopolo.
