Rabat – President of the Transitional National Assembly of Gabon, Jean-François Ndongou, lauded Morocco’s “consistent” dedication to the development of Moroccan-Gabonese relations during his visit to Rabat on Tuesday.
Ndongou expressed his satisfaction with the enduring bond between the two countries, commending Morocco’s commitment to the longstanding bilateral and fraternal ties with Gabon.
He made these remarks following discussions with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita today.
Both officials underlined the mutual commitment of their nations to strengthen bilateral ties and reaffirmed their shared values and strategic partnership.
Ndingou underlined the importance of cooperating on various critical issues, including economic and military cooperation.
He noted that approximately 7,000 Gabonese citizens reside in Morocco, benefiting from the country’s academic and military training programs.
In addition, Ndongou expressed gratitude for Morocco’s benevolent gestures towards Gabon.
He also reiterated Gabon’s consistent support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
The official was accompanied by a delegation of members from the Gabonese Transitional National Assembly.
Ndongou, who is on an official visit to Morocco, met yesterday with Rachid Talbi Alami, the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives.
During the meeting, Ndongou emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and highlighted Gabon’s historical support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, including its participation in the Green March in 1975.
Despite a recent military coup in Gabon, the new leadership seems committed to maintaining friendly relations with Morocco and supporting the country’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara region.
