Moroccan singer Omar Cherif, one of Morocco’s brightest and most celebrated singers, was found dead in his home in Casablanca.
According to converging reports, the singer died of heart complications.
The singer’s death has caused frustration and shock among both artists and fans and followers of the Moroccan cultural scene, with artists mourning their beloved and well-respected friend.
Renowned Moroccan singer Abdellah Daoudi took to Facebook earlier today to send his condolences to the family of the deceased, describing Cherif as a “cheerful spirit and kind hearted soul.”
Moroccan artist Hassan Dikouk also reacted to Cherif’s death, describing the news as “shocking.”
“We worked together, and you were one of the good, noble men. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to him we shall return,” he said.
Several reports indicated that security services went to Cherif’s house to investigate the circumstances of his death.
