Rabat – Undefeated Saudi boxing star Zuhayr Al Qahtani is set to perform in ONE Championship’s historic event ONE 166, in Qatar on March 1 at the Lusail Sports Area.
Al Qahtani will face Algerian-French counterpart Mehdi Zatout at the organization’s first ever event on Qatari soil, in an anticipated boxing bout in the Catchweight (66.6 Kg) category.
Al-Qahtani joins Yemeni-Saudi Osamah Almarwai as the second Gulf star on the card, with the latter scheduled to face Brazilian counterpart Cleber Sousa in a Flyweight Submission Grappling fight.
WBC Middle Eastern champion Al Qahtani will be making his ONE Championship debut in Qatar where he will put his undefeated 9-0 record on the line against the Algerian-French veteran who is just coming out of retirement.
The 34-year-old Saudi Arabian boxing star will face a difficult test as Zatout holds a record of 79 wins out of 120 fights, In his last fight, Zatout announced his retirement after beating American opponent Asa Ten Paw via a first round knockout in October 2022.
Currently overseeing the rise of some of the best upcoming talents in martial arts, 40-year-old Zatout has had a glittering career in which he captured the WBC Muay Thai championship as well as the International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA) world champion.
,Another notable star spectators will be following is Anatoly Malykhin, previous ONE MMA Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight three-division world champion who hopes to bring home victory against ONE MMA Middleweight world champion Reinier De Ridder in a highly anticipated rematch.
The event features two additional world title rematches. The first featuring American Jarred Brooks who will defend his ONE MMA Strawweight world title in a rematch against Filipino Joshua Pacio in the co-main event. The second battle that could decide the next contender for the ONE MMA Heavyweight world championship will be betweenIranian MMA star Amir Aliakbari who will face former world champion Arjan Bhullar.
American star Tye Ruotolo will defend his ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling belt against Isaak Michell while Thai legend Nong-O Hama and Russian star Vladimir Kuzmin will go head-to-head in an intriguing Bantamweight Muay Thai clash.
