Fez – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) announced in an alert bulletin this Wednesday that strong gusts of wind (75-100 km/h), heavy thunderstorm rain (40-90 mm), as well as snowfall (20-50 cm), will hit several provinces across the country from Thursday to Saturday.
Strong gusts of wind at speeds ranging from 85 to 100 km/h are forecast from Thursday February at 6:00 p.m. to Friday February at 11:00 p.m., in the provinces of Larache, Chichaoua, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Moulay Yacoub, Meknes, Sefrou, Tetouan, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Taza, Guercif, Ouarzazate, Al Hajeb, Taounate, Ifrane, Chefchaouen, Fez and Ouezzane, the DMN detailed.
The directorate also indicated that the same phenomenon (at speeds ranging from 75 to 85 km/h) is expected during the same period in the provinces of Sale, Kenitra, Benslimane, Settat, Rhamna, Mohammedia, Essaouira, Tangier-Assilah, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Casablanca, Mediouna, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Rabat, Skhirate-Temara, El Jadida, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Boulemane, Sidi Kacem, Berrechid, Marrakech, Midelt, Fahs-Anjra and Nouaceur.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Azilal, Al Haouz, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, Ouezzane, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Chefchaouen, Taza and Taounate will be affected by heavy stormy rains (60 to 90 mm), from Friday February 9 at 12:00 a.m. to Saturday February 10 at 10:00 am.
Stormy rains (40-60 mm) are also expected, from Friday at 12 am. to Saturday at 6 am, in the provinces of Skhirate-Temara, Chichaoua, Essaouira, Rabat, Sale, Safi, Khenifra, M’Diq- Fnideq, Sefrou, Kenitra and Ifrane, added the alert bulletin.
It also indicated that snowfall will hit the provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Tinghir, Azilal and Beni Mellal from Friday at 12:00 am. to Saturday at 6:00 am. Faced with the prospect of such weather conditions, the General Directorate of Meteorology (ADM) strongly recommends that users of the entire national motorway network exercise vigilance and find out about traffic conditions before any trip.
The ADM is in total vigilance mode with strong mobilization of all its teams and those of its partners operating on the motorway network.
