Rabat – According to converging sources, Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz is on the verge of joining the ranks of the Moroccan national football team under the guidance of national coach Walid Regregui.
Regregui has officially announced Diaz’s inclusion in the preliminary list of players for the upcoming matches against Mauritania and Angola, a pivotal move in the team’s formation.
In a statement made during preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) last November, Regregui expressed his interest in Diaz, emphasizing the importance of commitment from his players.
“He is a player who has interested us for a long time. And of course, he still interests us. If we know he is ready, we will call him up. Otherwise, it won’t happen,” stated the Moroccan coach, highlighting the significance of having players who are fully dedicated to the team’s cause.
Brahim Diaz, born on August 3, 1999, in Malaga to Patricia Díaz and Sufiel Abdelkader Mohand, holds dual Spanish and Moroccan nationality adding depth and diversity to his potential contribution to the Moroccan squad.
The Moroccan national team is gearing up for two friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania, scheduled for March 22 and 26 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir. These fixtures are integral to the team’s preparation for future competitions, notably the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Having exited the last CAN in the round of 16 held in Ivory Coast, the national team now aims to make a mark in the upcoming qualifiers.
