Rabat – Today, Morocco and France signed a cooperation agreement focused on higher education and technical vocational training in agriculture. The agreement also encompasses higher education in the veterinary and forestry sectors.
The protocol aims to develop and boost cooperation between educational and vocational training institutions as well as facilitate their relationship with other stakeholders in the sector. This aim is with particular focus on the agricultural chains as well as Moroccan and French food industries.
The protocol agreement was jointly signed by the Directorate of Education, Training, and Research under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries as well as the Directorate General for Education and Research under the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.
According to Morocco’s Ministry of Agriculture, the agreement will enable the strengthening of partnerships between institutions as well as the development of experience exchange in the field of training.
The signing of this agreement came a few days after the visit of French Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Sejourne to Morocco.
During the visit, France and Morocco emphasized their determination to boost cooperation at all levels, including trade and economic cooperation.
According to the French government’s website, the rise of Morocco’s industrial ecosystems significantly contributed to the increase in trade with Morocco.
French imports from Morocco increased by 112% between 2012 and 2022. This means that the importance increased twice as fast as France’s exports.
In 2022, commercial exchanges between the two countries also increased by 24%, to € 13.4 billion, the French government website added.
In terms of agriculture and fisheries, France’s imports come second with an increase of 33% or € 1.2 billion followed by textiles and topped by automotive vehicles in 2022.
