Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology issued a new weather alert, forecasting strong gusts of wind with dust storms on Thursday and Friday in several provinces across the North African country.
The weather alert said the strong wind will range between 75 to 90 kilometers per hour, affecting several provinces.
The weather will affect the provinces of Oujda-Angad, Jerada, Figuig, Midelt, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Tinghir, and Errachidia from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
The same weather will concern Guercif, Sefrou, Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Tanger-Asilah, Fahs Anjra, and Tetouan.
Strong wind with dust storms are also expected on Friday in the provinces of Figuig, Taourirt, Midelt, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Tinghir, Guercif, Sefrou, Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Tangier-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, and Tetouan from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In anticipation of the unstable weather, Morocco’s Motorway Company (ADM) strongly recommends drivers in the Taza Oujda, Tetouan Findeq, Tagner Assilah, and Khouribga Beni Mellal provinces exercise caution and inquire about traffic conditions before traveling.
The company also called on road users to call the number “5050” for any traffic information or assistance.
It also called on citizens to consult the ADM Traffic application, noting that the company is on high alert with a “strong mobilization of all its teams and those of its partners involved in the motorway network.”
