Marrakech – After sustaining a bullet wound on Monday in Biscarrosse, a town in southwestern France, Girac provided a surprising explanation to authorities during questioning on Wednesday.

In a revelation that stunned investigators and the public, he admitted that his intention was to “simulate suicide.

According to Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor Olivier Janson, the reason behind Girac’s act was a turbulent argument with his partner, who had reportedly threatened to end their relationship.

“He was very scared when he heard her talk about leaving; he had a moment of panic and wanted to scare her in return. In a way, he simulated a suicide,” the prosecutor said at a press conference, detailing that the findings of the preliminary investigations were “not compatible” with the hypothesis of a shot fired by a third party.

The singer, who was heavily intoxicated and still under the influence of cocaine at the time of the incident, clarified that his partner’s threats to end their relationship were frighteningly coming true, he wanted his partner to hear the gunshot to prevent her from leaving him.

The singer also admitted his actions to the prosecutor, “while deeply regretting them.”

The legal proceedings are expected to conclude with no further action, due to the absence of a criminal offense if the current hypothesis is definitively confirmed.

“The justice system is not tasked with investigating the reasons behind a suicide,” the prosecutor recalled, explaining that “suicide is not a criminal offense in France.”

For his part, the artist also reportedly apologized for lying in his initial account of events, particularly regarding the firearm supposedly purchased at a flea market.

He now states that a “guy” who visited the Biscarrosse camp on April 18 offered to sell him an old pistol for 500 euros. He admits to buying the pistol before picking up his wife from the airport.
