Rabat – Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan took center stage at the opening ceremony of the 16th International Agriculture Show in Morocco (SIAM) on Monday.
The event opened at Mechouar Stinia-Sahrij Souani in Meknes, echoing Morocco’s dedication to fostering resilient agricultural systems.
Under the auspices of King Mohammed VI, the SIAM, scheduled from April 22 to 28, embraces the theme “Climate and Agriculture: Towards Sustainable and Resilient Production Systems.”
As the world faces global pressing, climate change-induced challenges, SIAM’s 16th edition highlights the urgency for adaptive measures within the agricultural domain.
Addressing the nexus between climate variability and agricultural productivity, the event congregates a consortium of national and international experts and scientists.
Known as one of the world’s best agricultural fairs , SIAM boasts a staggering attendance record. In 2023, it attracted over 923,000 visitors, with 1,400 exhibitors, 2,000 breeders, and 70 nations participating.
Spain, a bastion of agricultural prowess in Western Europe, is the guest of honor at this year’s SIAM.
This désignation, emblematic of the enduring friendship between Morocco and Spain, this designation underscores the bilateral cooperation fostering agricultural innovation and sustainability.
The Spanish pavilion, spanning 544 square meters, emerges as a nucleus for fostering commercial synergies between Moroccan and Spanish enterprises, thereby catalyzing collaborative ventures and investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Elevating the discourse on agricultural innovation, SIAM 2024 beckons the convergence of 37 Spanish companies, poised to impart insights on smart irrigation, crop innovation, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
Anticipated to draw nearly 70 nations and 1,500 exhibitors, SIAM 2024 unfurls an extensive program, comprising 40 conferences and roundtable discussions, delving into the vanguard of contemporary agricultural discourse.
With over 950,000 visitors expected to grace this emblematic congregation, SIAM reaffirms its status as a pivotal platform for catalyzing agricultural sustainability and fostering international cooperation in agri-innovation.
