Rabat – Morocco’s national futsal team, led by Hicham Dguig, secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations after a resounding 13-0 victory over Zambia on Monday evening at the Sports Hall of the Moulay Abdellah Complex.
The Moroccan squad, riding high on two consecutive victories in the group stage, delivered a masterclass performance, overwhelming their Zambian counterparts with skill and precision.
This third consecutive triumph not only solidified their position in the semi-finals but also amplified their status as a formidable force in African futsal.
With the win, Morocco now sets its sights on the semi-finals, where they are poised to take on the second-placed team from Group B.
Group B comprises heavyweights such as Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, and Namibia, promising an intense showdown as the Lions aim to extend their winning streak and advance further in the tournament.
The significance of this victory extends beyond the confines of the AFCON tournament. The top three teams from this edition of the AFCON Futsal will secure automatic qualification for the World Cup, scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan from September 14th to October 6th.
Morocco’s commanding performance not only positions them as contenders for the AFCON title but also puts them in a favorable position to secure a coveted spot in the global showcase of futsal talent.
