Rabat – Morocco’s national futsal team is set to lock horns with Ghana today as part of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage.

The game will kick off at 8 PM Moroccan time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The game will be broadcast live on Moroccan sports channel Arryadia.

The match will mark day two of the tournament’s group stage. The AFCON draw has placed Morocco in group A alongside Ghana, Angola, and Zambia.

Meanwhile, group B features Egypt, Libya, Namibia, and Mauritania.

In their AFCON opener, the Moroccan team played against Angola on Thursday in Rabat. The game ended with Morocco taking the lead with a 5-2 result.

Meanwhile, Ghana suffered a 5-2 loss against Zambia in their opening fixture.

Morocco’s futsal team is currently ranked eighth in the Futsal World Ranking. They are the defending champions of the AFCON Futsal, having won the title in both 2016 and 2020.

Following the team’s victory against Angola, Morocco’s coach Hicham Dguig lauded his squad’s attacking spirit and strong performance.

“The match was difficult against Angola, a team we do not know well, but the constant offensive of the national team enabled us to win the match,” he said.

He added, “The most important thing is that we managed to earn the three points of victory.”

Meanwhile, Angola’s coach Marcos Antunes praised Morocco’s performance, saying: “On the pitch, the Moroccan team was the strongest.”
