Rabat – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has issued a strong warning to Israel, vowing a “massive and harsh” response to even the “tiniest attack.”
Raisi made the statement today during a speech at his country’s annual army parade. The warning comes in the aftermath of Iran’s recent attack on Israel, which has prompted fears of a full-scale war in the region.
In its first ever direct attack on Israel, Iran fired more than 300 drones and missiles, most of which were intercepted by Israel and its allies.
Iran’s attack came in retaliation for the bombing of its council in Damascus on April 1. Israel is widely believed to have been behind the attack, which killed seven of Iran’s senior commanders and military personnel.
During his address, Raisi hailed Iran’s direct attack on Israel, referred to as “True Promise,” and emphasized his country’s determination to defend itself against any Israeli aggression.
He declared that the attack on Israel demonstrated Iran’s capability to dismantle the “false hegemony of the Zionist regime.” He labeled the attack as “limited,” suggesting that Iran could have chosen to carry out a bigger assault.
In addition, Raisi criticized countries that have normalized relations with Israel, condemning them for aligning with what he described as a “cruel and criminal regime.” He warned that such nations would face shame before their own populations for their alliances.
Despite calls for restraint from various world powers, including the United States and the EU, Israel has pledged to respond to Iran’s attack.
Israel’s military chief said on Monday that his country will respond to Iran’s attack. However, he did not disclose details on when and how they plan to carry out such a strike.
The army’s spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said that Israel will respond “at the time that we choose.”
