Rabat – For a second consecutive week, pro-Palestine demonstrations have surged across numerous US university campuses, with fervor escalating notably at The City University of New York (CUNY).
Hundreds of students have erected an encampment on campus, adorned with banners declaring slogans such as “No More Investment in Apartheid,” demanding institutions divest from Israel.
The movement has sparked intense debates surrounding freedom of speech, Palestinian solidarity activism, and the use of force to disperse demonstrators.
However, amid these discussions, the primary reason driving the student demonstrations— the urgent call to halt Israel’s deadly bombardment of Gaza— risks being overshadowed.
Students leading the movement emphasize the critical need to amplify their voices against the ongoing Israeli violence in Gaza. As the death toll climbs, they stress the importance of maintaining focus on the humanitarian disaster unfolding in the region.
The demonstrations underscore a growing sentiment of solidarity with Palestinians among American university students, with many expressing outrage over the disproportionate use of force by Israeli authorities.
The rallies serve as a platform for students to voice their condemnation of the violence and advocate for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
As the protests continue to reverberate across campuses nationwide, students remain resolute in their demand for justice and accountability.
With each “free Palestine” banner raised and each anti-apartheid chant echoed, they strive to ensure that the plight of the Palestinian people remains at the forefront of the global conversation.
In the besieged Gaza Strip, the death toll of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) has surged to a staggering 34,388, with an additional 77,437 individuals wounded, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In the past 24 hours alone, 32 people have been killed and 69 others wounded, the ministry said Saturday.
