The minister also highlighted the significant support her department has provided to Moroccan startups over the past few years. In addition to taking part in GITEX Africa 2024, the Moroccan government showcased its commitment to fostering the growth and development of the country’s startup ecosystem by covering the participation fees for 200 Moroccan startups.

This initiative empowered these young entrepreneurs to leverage the event’s myriad opportunities, including networking, partnerships, and investment prospects.

During the event, the ministry forged several partnerships aimed at advancing Morocco’s startup landscape. These partnerships seek to promote collaboration and innovation among local businesses and international stakeholders.

The ministry also inked a comprehensive agreement encompassing a program to train 15,000 young people across the kingdom in digital skills, she added. This initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to equip the next generation with the requisite skills to thrive in the digital economy.

Mezzour further elaborated that the agreement cover the expansion of the “Jobintech” program, offering intensive training to young Moroccans to facilitate their entry into the job market.

According to the minister, GITEX Africa was also an important platform for Morocco to improve its partnerships with fellow African nations.

She recalled engaging in discussions with several African ministers to further bilateral cooperation and collaboration, concluding that this is consistent with Morocco’s dedication to socio-economic progress in Africa and South-South cooperation.
