Casablanca-Real Madrid is on the verge of officially announcing the signing of French superstar Kylian Mbappe in the coming days. The 24-year-old striker, who recently confirmed his departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is widely expected to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer.
Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, has hinted that her son will be moving to a new club “where everybody knows.”
Real Madrid has been hesitant to make an official announcement due to their ongoing season commitments.
However, with their 15th Champions League title secured and France coach Didier Deschamps expressing a desire to resolve Mbappe’s future before the UEFA Euro 2024 (Euros)the timing now seems right for Madrid to make the announcement.
The club hopes to unveil their new signing on Monday, butMadrid may not be able to present Mbappe until mid-July due to France’s preparations for the summer Euros. It remains uncertain whether Mbappé will participate in the Olympics as well.
Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s manager, declined to comment on Mbappe’s arrival after the Champions League final, stating that he would only discuss players currently in the squad.
Jude Bellingham, on the other hand, expressed his belief that the French players’ arrival would elevate the team.
Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe has spanned seven years, and the forward’s impending move has been an open “secret” in football.
PSG will lose a player for whom they rejected a $214 million offer from Madrid in 2021, as Mbappe’s contract has expired. His next journey is to join the record Champions League title holders, where he will sign a five-year contract.
Real Madrid is offering Mbappe an annual salary of $16 million, along with a $160 million sign-on bonus spread over five years as well as a percentage of his image rights.
The French striker has already begun signing Real Madrid shirts, further fueling the anticipation of his imminent move.
