Rabat – The Moroccan delegation’s parade attire has been spotlighted as one of the top 20 most impressive outfits of the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, which took place on Friday evening in Paris.
The Moroccan Olympic team’s attire was crafted as “a tribute to the symbols of the Kingdom,” said French newspaper Cnews.
The French outlet chose the Moroccan outfit from among those of France, Spain, Great Britain, the United States, Brazil, Haiti, Canada, and others, focusing on its standout creativity and cultural craftsmanship.
The world observed these 20 remarkable outfits along the Seine River, each embodying months of meticulous work.
Morocco’s outfit symbolizes the designers’ dedication to the finest craftsmanship, national symbols, and performance.
Created by Moroccan designer Ali Drissi, the parade outfit includes an off-white jacket embellished with a green star, reflecting the national flag. The jacket’s interior features the names of all Moroccan Olympic medalists, inscribed in red and green.
The outfit is completed with red trousers and sneakers in national colors, designed to pay tribute to Morocco’s sports history and national identity.

The Moroccan National Olympics Committee (CNOM) selected this design from several others following a call for proposals.
“The goal was to create an outfit for Olympians that would represent not only their sports but also their nation at this globally significant event,” Drissi told a Moroccan news website.
Morocco “was central to the concept, including its symbols, regions, and distinctive colors.”
The designer also emphasizes that the outfit is “100% Moroccan,” from the lightweight wool gabardine and cotton poplin sourced from the Moroccan textile industry, to the screen printing done at Ali Drissi’s workshops in the town of Aïn Sebaâ.
Drissi explained, “The leather goods and sports shoes are also locally produced.”
During the opening ceremony, the Moroccan sports delegation paraded on a large boat along a six-kilometer stretch of the iconic Parisian river, drawing cheers and applause from the crowd.
The national flag was proudly raised during the parade by golfer Ines Laklalech and equestrian Yassine Rahmouni.
Morocco is set to embark on a new sporting journey with 60 athletes (42 men and 18 women) participating in 19 Olympic disciplines at these Summer Games.
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch arrived in Paris on Thursday to represent King Mohammed VI at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
He is also set to attend the “Sport and Sustainable Development” summit, organized by the French presidency and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with support from the French Development Agency.
