Rabat – King Mohammed VI on Wednesday swore in hundreds of newly commissioned officers into the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

The event, marking the 25th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day, was a showcase of the nation’s military might and the enduring bond between the monarchy and its armed forces.

As the Supreme Commander and General Chief of Staff of the FAR, the king delivered a rousing address to the new officers, emphasizing the importance of loyalty, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to the nation.

“You are the guardians of our nation’s honor and security,” the king declared. “Your dedication and courage are essential in preserving the stability and prosperity of our beloved Morocco.”

King Mohammed VI added a deeply personal touch to the ceremony by naming the new officer promotion after his late mother, Princess Lalla Latifa, who passed away in June.

In doing so, he paid tribute to Moroccan mothers who play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future by “instilling moral and patriotic values” in their children.

As the new officers took their oath, the king expressed confidence in their ability to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. “I have full faith in your capacity to serve our country with distinction,” he stated.

The ceremony was a grand spectacle, featuring a parade of troops and the presentation of new rank insignia. Officers from elite military academies, including the Royal Military Academy and the Royal Air School, joined the ranks of the FAR.

The event underscored the crucial role of the military in safeguarding Morocco’s sovereignty and security.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials, including the Prime Minister and the presidents of both parliamentary chambers, as well as foreign military attaches.
