Rabat- Morocco’s national football team head coach, Walid Regragui, will address the media on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale. The press conference will focus on announcing the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Regragui will unveil the players selected to represent the Atlas Lions in their next two matches against Gabon and Lesotho.
Right-back Ayoub El Amloud is included in the preliminary squad. He made his debut for Persepolis in the Persian Gulf Pro League, Iran’s top division, on August 15, against Zob Ahan FC in the season opener.
Morocco is scheduled to face the Leopards of Gabon on September 6, followed by a clash with the Crocodiles of Lesotho on September 9. Both matches are set to kick off at 7:00 PM at the Agadir Grand Stadium.
Morocco is automatically qualified as the host nation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament will start on December 21, 2025, and conclude on January 18, 2026. This will mark the first time an AFCON tournament spans two calendar years.
Morocco’s national football team is currently leading Group E with 9 points, solidifying their position at the top of the group standings. This strong performance has placed them ahead of Nigeria, who are in second place with 6 points.
