Marrakech – Moroccan international striker Youssef En-Nesyri opened his debut with his new club Fenerbahçe in a 2-2 draw against Göztepe on Saturday evening.
The match, played at Göztepe’s home stadium in Izmir, was part of the second round of the Turkish Süper Lig.
En-Nesyri, who was in Fenerbahçe’s starting lineup for the first time, scored his side’s second goal in the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time (45+7).
His goal came just four minutes after teammate Edin Dzeko had given Fenerbahçe the lead in the third minute of added time (45+3).
However, the hosts fought back in the second half, with Koray Günter pulling one back for Göztepe in the 68th minute.
Brazilian midfielder Romulo then scored a dramatic equalizer for Göztepe in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time (90+5), ensuring the points were shared.
The result leaves Fenerbahçe, coached by Portuguese manager José Mourinho, in third place in the Süper Lig table with 4 points from their first two games.
Göztepe, meanwhile, sits in eighth place with 2 points.
En-Nesyri, 27, joined Fenerbahçe on a five-year contract on July 25, following a successful four-season stint with Spanish club Sevilla FC.
The Moroccan forward will be hoping to build on this first goal as he looks to make his mark in Turkish football.
Fenerbahçe’s next Süper Lig fixture is a home game against Galatasaray on August 25.
