Rabat- The Moroccan Ministry of Interior held a working meeting today, Thursday, in Tetouan, coinciding with the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne.

The meeting, chaired by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and the Director General of Civil Protection.

The statement issued by the ministry noted that the meeting provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the royal directives outlined in the king’s speech commemorating the 25th anniversary of his ascension to the throne. The officials expressed profound gratitude for the insightful royal vision that has guided public administration over the years, establishing Morocco as a model in various political, security, economic, social, and cultural fields.

Addressing recent developments concerning the national cause, the ministry highlighted the French position affirming that the “present and future of the Moroccan Sahara fall within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.”

The Interior Ministry stressed the need for enhanced engagement from all stakeholders, particularly governors and officials, to fully commit to driving development programs and overseeing local authorities, which they see as crucial partners in regional development efforts.

In this context, the ministry expressed pride in the cohesion and unity demonstrated by the residents of the southern provinces. The statement commended the national spirit of tribal elders, leaders, elected representatives, and civil society actors, noting their unwavering readiness to defend Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry also underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to ensure the success of the social state project, a major royal initiative being implemented by the current government. It stated that conscious and responsible engagement in this initiative is a national duty, requiring all stakeholders to maintain full commitment to its noble objectives.

In preparation for the upcoming general population and housing census scheduled for next month, the Interior Ministry expressed its readiness to efficiently manage the subsequent phases. The ministry will collaborate closely with the High Commission for Planning, ensuring the mobilization of necessary human and logistical resources.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of Interior’s “steadfast commitment and constant readiness to stand behind King Mohammed VI in serving the nation and its citizens.
