Rabat – At least 48 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Saturday as Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) airstrikes targeted central and southern parts of the enclave, according to Palestinian health authorities.
The deadly strikes come amid a broader IOF merciless campaign that has intensified both in Gaza and the West Bank, escalating an already volatile situation.
In the occupied West Bank, the IOF launched a large-scale raid on Jenin, a city that has been at the center of recent violence. Now in its fourth consecutive day, the raid has left Jenin isolated from the rest of the world.
Dozens of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles, including armored personnel carriers and jeeps, have surrounded the Jenin refugee camp, where fighting has been fierce.
Israeli forces have described the operation as a counter-terrorism effort aimed at dismantling militant networks. However, the scale of the aggression has been unprecedented, with multiple West Bank cities, including Jenin, facing intense bombardment.
“This is the worst day since the start of the raid,” said Wisam Bakr, the director of Jenin Government Hospital, noting that the clashes and explosions have shown no signs of stopping.
The ongoing genocide in Gaza has pushed the death toll to nearly 40,700, with another 94,060 people injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Over the last two days alone, 89 Palestinians were killed in what the ministry described as five separate “massacres.” Many of the victims remain trapped under rubble, with rescuers struggling to reach them due to continuous Israeli bombardment.
Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its genocidal campaign, even as it faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
The court has ordered a halt to operations in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge. But the violence persists, leaving the region in a state of chaos.
