Rabat – Morocco’s futsal national team secured a 6-3 victory against Panama today as part of the group stage of the Futsal World Cup, taking place in Uzbekistan. With today’s win, the team secured a spot in the tournament’s Round of 16.
The Group E clash showcased Morocco’s offensive prowess and tactical discipline, solidifying their position as serious contenders in the tournament.
Morocco wasted no time establishing dominance, with Soufiane El Mesrar netting the opening goal just two minutes into the game. Soufian Charraoui doubled the lead in the sixth minute, putting Panama under significant pressure. Despite their struggles, Panama found their footing and responded with a goal from Abdiel Ortiz in the 16th minute, briefly reigniting hopes of a comeback.
However, Morocco quickly reasserted control, with Soufian Charraoui scoring his second goal in the 17th minute, ending the first half with a 3-1 lead. The second half saw Morocco continue their strong performance, as Idriss Raiss El Fenni added a fourth goal in the 22nd minute.
Desperate to claw back into the match, Panama managed to score twice, with Campos finding the net in the 27th minute and Maquensi adding another in the 33rd. Yet, Morocco sealed their victory with a goal from Idriss Raiss El Fenni in the 36th minute, and a final goal in the 39th minute from Soufiane El Mesrar, securing a 6-3 win.
This victory puts Morocco at the top of Group E with six points, followed by Portugal in second place. The national team entered this match as favorites following a 4-2 win against Tajikistan, while Panama faced further challenges after a heavy 10-1 defeat to Portugal in their opening game.
Following today’s game, Morocco is set to lock horns with the group leaders Portugal on Matchday 3.
