Rabat – Morocco has solidified its position as Africa’s football powerhouse, maintaining its 14th spot globally in the latest FIFA rankings released Thursday.
The Atlas Lions continue to lead the continent 1676.14 points, holding a comfortable margin over Senegal, ranked 21st worldwide with 1620.87 points.
Egypt, Africa’s third-best team, ranks 31st globally, accumulating 1515.64 points; it is followed by Cote d’Ivoire in 33rd place and Tunisia at 36th.
The rankings reinforce Morocco’s dominant role on the African football stage as the team eyes continued success heading into the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
Globally, Argentina remains the world’s top-ranked team, buoyed by their 2022 World Cup victory. France and Spain follow closely, occupying second and third spots, respectively.
The top ten is rounded out by other football giants, including England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy.
As hosts of the upcoming AFCON 2025, Morocco automatically qualified for the tournament, drawn into Pool B alongside Gabon, Lesotho, and the Central African Republic.
The Atlas Lions have made an impressive start to their campaign, securing a dominant 4-1 win over Gabon and a tight 1-0 victory against Lesotho.
