Rabat – Moroccan athlete Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi has secured a gold medal in the women’s marathon T-12 category.
She set a new world record with a time of 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 36 seconds, marking a significant achievement at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Several Moroccan champions made international and local headlines for their spectacular performances, compensating for the disappointment Moroccan fans felt during the Olympic Games, where only a few athletes secured medals.
Also part of the Paralympics, Moroccan athlete Amine Chentouf won the bronze medal in the T12 marathon event.
His compatriot Mariam Noghi additionally secured a silver medal by finishing second with a personal best of 2:58:18.
Morocco’s participation in the tournament has reaped at least 15 medals, including three golds, six silvers, and six bronzes.
