Rabat – King Mohammed VI has named Karim Zidane as Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, placing him at the forefront of Morocco’s efforts to drive economic growth and improve governance.

Replacing Mohcine Jazouli, who held the post since 2021, Zidane is now a key figure in Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch’s cabinet, tasked with overseeing strategic investment reforms and public policy evaluations.

Zidane’s appointment marks an important moment for Morocco’s Ministry of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies (MICEPP), which was created in 2022.

The ministry’s core mission is to design and oversee the implementation of state policies that promote investment, streamline business regulations, and ensure that public policies align with the country’s broader development goals.

Zidane, who spent over three decades in Germany’s automotive industry, brings an international perspective to his new role.

A mechanical engineer by training, he specialized in gasoline engine development at BMW, where he worked on cutting-edge sustainability projects.

His experience in managing complex projects and fostering innovation in a competitive global market gives him a unique edge in guiding Morocco’s investment strategies.

At MICEPP, Zidane will be responsible for coordinating government efforts to attract domestic and foreign investment, developing sectoral strategies, and providing support to investors.

His mandate includes improving the business environment by simplifying regulations and making Morocco a more attractive destination for global businesses.

This will be crucial as the country aims to diversify its economy and reduce its reliance on traditional industries.

In addition to investment, Zidane’s ministry will focus on ensuring that public policies are cohesive and effective. He will oversee the evaluation of national and sectoral initiatives, helping to align them with Morocco’s long-term objectives.

His background in both technical expertise and international collaboration is expected to enhance the ministry’s ability to foster convergence across government bodies.

Born in Morocco and educated in Germany, Zidane embodies a blend of Moroccan roots and global experience.

His career trajectory, from Souk Elarbaa to the heart of Europe’s industrial powerhouse, positions him as a symbol of Morocco’s ambitions to modernize its economy and strengthen its international presence.
