Rabat- The Gendarmerie forces from the Kenitra regional command apprehended a notorious drug trafficker in the Gharb region on October 3. The individual had been on the run since 2016 and was wanted by both local and national security agencies, making him the subject of multiple search warrants.
The drug lord, known by the alias Lakraa, was finally captured in Kceibya, near Kenitra, as reported by Al Akhbar on the weekend of October 5-6. Sources linked to the investigation revealed that he had been off the radar for eight years, spending more than four of those years abroad.
Upon his discreet return to Morocco, Lakraa quietly resumed his drug trafficking operations, expanding his network from his established bases in the Gharb and Moulay Bousselham regions to various southern coastal access points across the kingdom.
Despite his long absence, Lakraa remained a key figure in numerous investigations throughout the region. Authorities, including the Gendarmerie and National Security forces, managed to foil dozens of trafficking attempts traced back to his criminal network. He demonstrated a remarkable ability to remain hidden, operating clandestinely while orchestrating his illegal activities from afar, supported by a web of loyal accomplices.
Sources close to the investigation suggest that his arrest could implicate several individuals and officials believed to have provided him with immunity and assistance.
Meanwhile, the newspaper Al Akhbar reported that the Gendarmerie forces from the Kenitra regional command recently intercepted an attempt to traffic two tons of hashish (Chira) and apprehended five suspects in the vicinity of Moulay Bousselham.
