Rabat – The High Commission for Planning (HCP) announced yesterday that the data collection phase for the 2024 General Population and Housing Census has officially concluded, with the final count wrapping up at midnight yesterday.
This achievement reflects the commendable engagement of households and residents across Morocco in the census process.
In a statement, the HCP expressed pride in the enthusiastic response from families who welcomed census teams into their homes and thoughtfully engaged with the survey questions.
Concurrently, the collected data has been securely centralized and digitized at the HCP’s dedicated data management center, where processing has already begun.
The HCP additionally took the opportunity to commend the researchers, supervisors, and monitors for their adherence to high ethical standards and respectful interactions with families from diverse backgrounds, ensuring the protection of their privacy and traditions.
Meanwhile, the HCP also recognized the contributions of local authorities and security services in the successful execution of this major national operation.
This year’s census edition has been characterized by efficient conditions that have facilitated the successful execution of this key reference index in Morocco, the statement read.
In August, Ahmad Lahlimi Alami, the High Commissioner for Planning, pointed out the importance of nationwide mobilization for the success of the Census 2024.
Speaking to the press, Lahlimi mentioned the census’s vital role as a key reference index, designed to provide valuable insights into Morocco’s growth potential.
The High Commissioner also talked about the centrality of preliminary cartographic work for Census 2024. He noted the implementation of an integrated information system that incorporates updated digital maps and two types of cartography—one for buildings and another for economic establishments. This initiative employs a mobile geographic information system (GIS) and high-resolution satellite imagery.
