Rabat — French President Emmanuel Macron delivered one of his strongest positions against the Israeli genocide in Gaza, calling for an arms embargo on the occupation forces.
“The priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza,” Macron told France Inter Radio.
The remarks sparked the Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) anger, with Benjamin Netanyahu saying “Shame on them.”
In a statement directed to Macron, Netanyahu described the embargo remarks as a “disgrace.”
He claimed that his country “defends itself on seven fronts against the enemies of civilization, referring to Gaza, Lebanon, the occupied West Bank, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.”
Macron’s remarks were met with satisfaction from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Palestinian ministry welcomed the statement, noting that Macron’s comments align with international law and UN resolutions—supporting the two-state solution and principles of human rights.
It also called on countries that continue to support Israel in its genocide to respect and implement international law.
In addition to its genocide in Gaza, the IOF have turned Lebanon into a war hub, destroying homes and causing widespread displacements, civilian deaths, and injuries.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the IOF killed over 2,000 people, including over 127 children and 261 women.
In Gaza, the IOF has killed over 41,825 Palestinians, with an additional 96,910 injuries since a year ago on October 7.
“Thousands are also feared dead under the rubble of destroyed structures across the war-torn enclave, with civil defense teams and emergency services unable to reach several areas due to safety concerns amid the indiscriminate Israeli attacks,” Wafa reported today.
