Morocco’s Ministry of Culture launched the country’s first Gaming Startups Meeting Day on Wednesday in Rabat as part of the country’s efforts to boost the gaming industry in the North African country.
The initiative will be launched in collaboration with Huawei Morocco.
Culture Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid said the event reflects Morocco’s ambition to become a “key player in the technological development industry, announced several months ago.”
The country’s approach aims to encourage major international companies to establish themselves in the national market, Bensaid argued, noting that big companies choosing to come to Morocco are primarily looking for high-quality talent capable of meeting the demons of an increasingly globalized market.
The minister commended the efforts made by youth active in the gaming sector, expressing his belief that the country’s potential in the field is immense.
“The gaming industry is a promising sector for young Moroccans,” he said, adding that this sector offers opportunities in fields that are still underexplored.
The culture ministry also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei Morocco, marking the first edition of the startup meeting day.

The agreement formalizes a joint commitment to supporting Moroccan startups and training young entrepreneurs in new information and communication technologies.
Signed by Bensaid and Huawei Northern Africa’s Executive Vice President Jeremy Lin, the agreement will cover training in key areas, including AI, cloud, and big data.
The agreement also strengthens the innovation and digital skills of various stakeholders so they can take advantage of digital opportunities and reach their potential.
Huawei Morocco’s Chief Brand Officer Nabil Ouchagour emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the national gaming strategy through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Culture.
The agreement also mirrors Huawei’s strong commitment to supporting Morocco’s gaming industry, Ouchagour argued, adding that the group is primarily focused on supporting infrastructure and the influence of Morocco startups in the sector.
The Startups Meeting Day initiative also presents the challenges and opportunities of the gaming sector in Morocco, a strategic industry that opens new perspectives in terms of job creation, innovation, and training in key technological fields.
