Rabat – Aterian, an Africa-focused mining company with operations across Botswana, Morocco, and Rwanda, has revealed encouraging findings at its Azrar copper-gold project in central Morocco.
Recent tests show promising results, including 2.97 grams of gold per tonne, 16 grams of silver per tonne, and 2.92% copper at the site. These findings highlight the project’s potential to become a major player in the mining sector.
Located in the western Anti-Atlas Mountains, the Azrar project spans 76.9 km² and is accessible via asphalt roads and smaller tracks.
Aterian, which holds full ownership of the project, is confident in the area’s prospects. The company emphasized that the discovery of a significant copper-gold zone at the Tifrit target in northeast Azrar supports its decision to prioritize the site for further exploration.
Charles Bray, President of Aterian, noted, “We are excited about the potential here. The discovery of multiple mineralized zones strengthens our belief that Azrar could yield several solid targets, thanks to the extensive work already done by our field team.”

Located approximately 155 km southeast of Agadir and 45 km from the Tizert copper-silver project, Azrar benefits from its proximity to other high-potential mining sites.
The project is situated in an area known for sedimentary-hosted copper mineralization, which has already shown promise in other local mines. This offers further validation for Aterian’s decision to focus on this location.
Aterian’s broader portfolio in Morocco includes 17 projects across 897 km², mainly focused on copper, silver, and other base metals.
These commodities are in growing demand, driven by the global shift toward electrification and renewable energy production.
Notably, Aterian is also exploring the Agdz region, where prospects like Amzwaro, Miniere, and Makarn are already showing high-grade rock chip results.
The Agdz area’s copper-bearing zones have delivered results such as 4.82% copper and up to 448 g/t silver, further bolstering the company’s prospects in Morocco.
