Moroccan star Mohamed Chibi is celebrating a big win. The Pyramids FC defender has been crowned the best right-back in Egypt’s league for 2024. Chibi says he is thrilled to have won the award, and hopes it will inspire him to “work hard and help achieve strong results” with his team.
After receiving the award, Chibi called it “well-deserved.” Reflecting on the past season, he thanked God for his success. “It’s been a long, tough journey,” he said. “I’m grateful I could support my team, and this success is thanks to God.”
On Egyptian TV, Chibi shared his goals for the season: “This award motivates me. I’m focused on pushing Pyramids to top spots and compete for titles.”
Chibi had an impressive season with the Pyramids and numbers do back him up. Chibi played 34 matches last season, leading the league with nine assists. His performance placed him ahead of key players like Siddiq Kalaba, Hussein Al-Shahat, and Feston Kalala Miley.
At the same time, Chibi’s market value has soared to one million euros, according to Transfermarkt, after his impressive run with his club.
Meanwhile, Chibi and Al Ahly’s Hussein Al-Shehhat shared a hug during the Stars of the Year awards in Cairo, ending months of tension. Al-Shehhat had come under fire after he slapped Mohamed Chibi during an Egyptian Premier League match.
Their feud had escalated to a courtroom, but both players have now turned the page.
With the past behind him and an award in hand, Chibi is looking forward and is well determined to lift trophies with his team and earn a call-up for the Moroccan national team.
