Rabat – The US embassy in Morocco has accredited Moroccan Parliament MemberHajja El Joummani as part of the international observer delegation for the  upcoming American presidential election.

The Sahrawi MP from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) announced the news on her Facebook on Friday.

“We are undergoing training in Washington to understand the legal framework and the rules governing the elections,” she posted, adding that she is part of the oversever delegation accredited by the US embassy in Rabat to monitor the American presidential elections.

“Our actual contribution will be to oversee the electoral process in North Carolina on November 5, 2024, when the next President of the United States will be chosen,” she wrote.

Americans will vote for a new president on Tuesday, and this contested upcoming election is generating significant anticipation worldwide.

Many observers keenly await the outcome as to whether the Democrats will retain control of the presidency or if it will be the Republicans’ turn to take the helm.

The election comes at a peak of global uncertainty, particularly regarding Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Both candidates have made bold claims about their ability to bring an end to Israel’s  relentless campaign on Gaza’s civilians, however with continued support for Israel and the stronghold of the Israeli lobby, many Americans are not convinced.

On Friday, Donald Trump discussed in Dearborn, Michigan the situation in the Middle East, claiming that there are people in the US and the region that are “not doing their job.”

“When they get it together; when they get it right; you’re going to have peace;” Trump said, adding that “you’re going to have peace in the Middle East… And they should have [peace] in the Middle East, but not with the clowns you have in the Middle East.”

On behalf of Harris, the Democratic candidate and current vice president has repeated on multiple accounts the same rhetoric as the Biden administration, saying that they are working tirelessly towards a ceasefire, that the humanitarian toll is too high in Gaza, but also asserting the belief that Israel has a right to defend itself.
