Rabat – In 2024, Morocco achieved a remarkable milestone, with 100% of its proposed candidates being elected within international and regional organizations.
This remarkable performance demonstrates Morocco’s growing influence and the effectiveness of its diplomatic strategy on the world stage.
Through an intensive diplomatic campaign led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and supported by various national institutions, Morocco successfully secured 67 candidacies, strengthening its presence across more than 30 international and regional organizations.
These strategic and coordinated efforts spanned a broad range of sectors, including security, human rights, economic development, culture, and sports, positioning Morocco as a key player in shaping global policies and contributing to international solutions.
In the security sector, Morocco was elected Vice-President for Africa on Interpol’s Executive Committee for the first time and will host the 93rd General Assembly of the organization in Marrakesh in 2025.

In the field of human rights, Morocco’s proposed candidate was elected for the first time as President of the Human Rights Council. The country has further solidified its presence within the UN human rights system, being re-elected to the Human Rights Committee for the 2025-2028 term.
A Moroccan diplomat was also reappointed to the Subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture for the same period and elected for a term to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Morocco also made major strides in the disarmament field, being elected President of the 6th Conference for establishing a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East, positioning the country at the forefront of regional peace efforts.
In economic matters, Morocco’s influence has grown with its election as Chair of the World Food Programme’s Board, playing a key role in addressing global food insecurity and water management challenges.
Culturally, Rabat’s designation as the World Book Capital for 2026 further boosts Morocco’s position as a cultural hub, while several cities, including Benguerir and Essaouira, earned UNESCO’s “Learning Cities” label for their commitment to education and lifelong learning.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s sporting achievements are similarly notable, with the country’s candidate being elected as Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee, a significant position in shaping the future of global sports.
These successes represent just a glimpse of Morocco’s broader efforts to strengthen its global influence. They not only solidify the country’s position as a key player in multilateral diplomacy but also highlight its expertise and unwavering commitment to global cooperation and excellence.
