Moroccan Students Lead Regional, National Rankings in OxfordAQA Go Further Awards

Three Moroccan students from London Academy Rabat and Casablanca have been recognized for their achievements in the prestigious OxfordAQA Go Further Awards, which celebrate students from across the world who earned the highest marks in their exams.

Rabat – Three Moroccan students from London Academy Rabat and Casablanca have been recognized for their achievements in the prestigious OxfordAQA Go Further Awards, which celebrate students from across the world who earned the highest marks in their exams.

Moroccan Hafsa Mouzoune and Aymen Benmagha stood out as top performers in the Middle East. Hafsa achieved the highest mark in the region for International GCSE Business, while Aymen earned the same distinction for International GCSE Mathematics.

Mouzoune also earned the top national mark for International GCSE Business in Morocco. Benmagha led in several subjects, including Mathematics, Computer Science, and Combined Science. In addition, Khadija Samb achieved the highest mark in the country for International GCSE English as a Second Language (ESL).

CEO and Founder of London Academy Rabat and Casablanca, Samir Benmakhlouf, expressed pride at these recognitions, saying: “We are proud today to have been awarded by Oxford AQA in the Middle East Conference in Egypt by 8 Excellence awards to our top performing students, teachers and overall as a leading British School in Morocco and the region.”

Benmakhlouf spoke to Morocco World News about London Academy’s core objectives. It is crucial to strive for excellence in exams performance of their students, he argued, stressing: “High grades not only reflect hard work and dedication but also open doors to the best.” “So far we have graduated over 60 students, and we are proud to say that 100% joined world known universities, such as the University of Oxford, Columbia University, the University of Manchester, and Northeastern University,” Benmakhlouf said, adding that several of London Academy’s students received scholarships thanks to their academic excellence.

Idder Moutia, known as the “Moroccan programming prodigy,” is an example of the students nurtured at London Academy. He achieved many milestones in programming, robotics, and won national and international competitions. Moutia is now studying computer science at the University of Sheffield.

Recognizing excellence

The OxfordAQA Go Further Awards ceremony celebrated the collective effort of students, teachers, and school leaders. Teachers and schools of the top performers were also honored for their support in guiding these students to success. 

Benmakhlouf said that the conference saw the attendance of more than 120 Accredited British schools in the region.

The 2024 Go Further Awards awarded students from 98 schools across 19 countries, recognizing excellence in 11 different subjects. OxfordAQA said on its website that this year’s winners showcased exceptional performance in subjects ranging from sciences to business,  demonstrating the growing impact of their qualifications globally.

In addition to the awards, the event included sessions on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Key topics included how to prepare students for an AI-driven world, supporting teachers and school leaders in managing AI-enabled change, and discussions on the pros and cons of on screen versus paper-based exams, among other topics.

Launched in 2019, the awards recognizes students in three categories; top in the country, top in the region, and top in the world.

OxfordAQA is a partnership between Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, and AQA, the UK’s largest provider of GCSEs and A-levels.
