Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and Norwegian Air Shuttle (ASA) announced that they are teaming up to develop a direct air service to connect between Tangier and Copenhagen starting May 2025.

ONMT said in a statement today that the campaign is part of its effort to increase air service to Morocco’s tourist destinations.

The two destinations will be linked through a weekly flight that is scheduled during the first season.

The flight will be the first air service connecting Tangier to a Scandinavian airport, the statement added, noting that Copehgangen serves as the primary operational hub for Norwegian’s entire Nordic and Baltic markets.

“This marks a major step forward in developing Moroccan tourism from this promising source market,” the statement said, adding that ONMT and Norwegain have launched a call for the transition of several routes from a seasonal winter schedule to an annual schedule as it is the case with the Marrakech Oslo flight.

The press release recalled that Agadir and Marrakech have been Morocco’s main destinations for Nordic visitors to date, benefiting from connections to these markets.

The statement concluded that the new partnership comes as part of the “Light in Action” campaign, through which ONMT plans to expand Morocco’s air connectivity with distant markets, while positioning Tangier as a key destination for travelers seeking proximity and a change of scenery.

Morocco has been working on its tourism plan and roadmap to position itself as a premier global destination.

Tourist arrivals in Morocco reached 14.6 million as of October, with the number surpassing the entire record for 2023 in just 10 months.

This development is attributed to the performance of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap launched by the Ministry of Tourism.

The performance represents a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2023, accounting for 2.3 million additional arrivals.
